Students - want to explore careers in sports merchandising, marketing or management, plus gain experience to build your resume through the power of Junior Achievement? If you will be a high school student living in metro Atlanta this coming fall, or you are currently a graduating student in the Junior Achievement Fellows Program, then sign up today for The Business of Sports—an awesome six-month program sponsored by your Atlanta Falcons and Junior Achievement of Georgia! Students in the program will gain knowledge about the business aspects of sports and receive hands-on exposure to the world of sports retail and licensing. This is an experience you can’t get anywhere else! The Business of Sports lasts from June to December of 2007 and within this unique program, students will:

PROGRAM DETAILS
The Business of Sports is a six-month program sponsored by your Atlanta Falcons and Junior Achievement, lasting from June through December 2007. This comprehensive program offers classroom and on-the-job sales and customer service training, and actual experience in the world of sports and retail business—along with a tour of Falcons Headquarters, plus the opportunity to learn from Falcons executives!
Eligibility
You can apply if you: · Live in the metro · Are 16 or older an a high school student through at least December 2007 or a graduating Junior Achievement Fellow this May 2007 · Are willing to work the Falcons 5 day games during the 2007 season, with the following dates. Work schedules are 8-hour shifts and begin 4 hours before kick off and end 1 hour after the game concludes. (Participants can miss only one game before they are ineligible to receive their program benefits): o September 23rd at 4:15pm o September 30th at 1pm o November 4th at 1pm o November 18th at 1pm o December 30th at 1pm · Can provide your own transportation to all training sessions. Game travel via MARTA will be reimbursed by the Falcons and transportation to the Falcons Program requirements
You must complete all parts of the program to be eligible for any program benefits or to attend the ending · One (1) training session at the Georgia Dome on either June 12-14 OR June 26-28, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m; lunch is provided)—You’ll be trained in customer service, sales techniques and other skills needed for working game days. Transportation must be provided on your own to the GA Dome. · After attending Dome Training, complete one (1) four-hour, on-the-job-training session this summer BEFORE you can be scheduled to work any Falcons games. Choose where you’d like to be trained: a Falcons 365 store at Perimeter or Lenox malls, Falcons Training Camp at Flowery Branch, or at the August 4 Midtown Touchdown event in · Following on-the-job training, complete five (3) eight-hour, volunteer shifts at the Georgia Dome during the 2007 Falcons season (dates are listed above). Volunteers are also allowed the option of working any other game dates, provided they have parental consent for those additional dates. Transportation to games is on your own, or you can take MARTA to/from training sessions and we’ll pay the fares. Failure to cover at least 4 of the games will result in a loss of all event privileges and removal from JA. · A 250-500 word essay regarding an area you have learned during your participation in “The Business of Sports” program. Junior Achievement of Georgia will select the best essay and the winner will be announced January 2008, with recognition on both the Atlanta Falcons and Falcons 365 web sites and a press release sent to So what do you get? In addition to great training from the Falcons and Junior Achievement, completion of the above details also makes you eligible to: · Attend a full-day · Receive a gift bag of Falcons merchandise courtesy of Reebok and other Falcons vendors · Attend the · Gain automatic membership in Junior Achievement and possible class or club credit (dependent on individual school requirements) In addition, “superstars” can win: · A $25 Falcons 365 gift card given out each game to students who show superior customer service · A chance to win a $2,500 college scholarship or cash prize given out for the best essay from a graduating senior in the program How to apply
